Discover Scuba Diving
If you are new to scuba diving but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a perfect start to exploring the underwater world. With a beach entry dive and shallow sea training area, you will have a safe and enjoyable introduction to scuba diving.
What you will learn
You will learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive, under the direct supervision of a PADI or SSI Professional. If you make an open water dive, you’ll practise a few more skills in shallow water to prepare for your adventure. Get ready to:
- Learn about the scuba equipment you use to dive and how to move around underwater with your gear
- Find out what it’s like to breathe underwater
- Learn key skills that you’ll use during every scuba dive
- Have fun swimming around and exploring
- Hear about becoming a certified diver through the PADI Open Water Diver course or the SSI Open Water Diver course
Discover Scuba Diving takes place in a beautiful bay in shallow water. The maximum depth you’ll start with is 100cm, which is suitable to perform all the basic skills required for a boat experience.
Afterwards, you can choose to practise more on your next shore dive or to try a dive from a boat.
Safety & regulations
- Suitable for children age 10+
- No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health
- Only consume light food and no fizzy drinks or coffee during the 2 hours before the dive
Daily dive excursions
Certified divers can join a daily dive excursion and explore the diverse marine life of Hvar's archipelago with a one- or two-tank dive. Each excursion offers a unique experience as the schedule rotates through various stunning dive sites, including vibrant reefs, intriguing wrecks, and fascinating underwater landscapes. Each site offers a unique glimpse into the Adriatic's rich marine ecosystem.
A “check dive” is mandatory for those who have no logged dive in the previous 6 months and/or have no logbook to show.
Choose from group dives on the daily excursions or a private dive bespoke to you and your group. All diving experiences take place on purpose-built dive boats with amenities such as roofs, fridges, and toilets – or spacious RIB boats. The boats are easily accessible, and after your dive, you can relax at the centre’s exclusive beach bar, designed for divers to unwind and savour their afternoon.
Dive sites
Hvar boasts over 15 beautiful diving locations, offering something for everyone – from newly certified divers through to those for the most experienced recreational divers and professionals. Most are located within the archipelago of the Pakleni Islands. A 10-20 minute boat ride will have you gearing up and ready to dive, with the furthest site being just short of an hour.
