Meet Elisha and Matt
Hvar Away founders Elisha and Matt moved to Hvar in 2020, having visited the island only once before. The pandemic motivated them to take a leap of faith, bidding farewell to the UK in pursuit of building a new life in Croatia.
Having escaped from medical studies at Oxford University and subsequent world traveller, Elisha heads up operations and guest services. Originally from Poland, Matt is a multi-skilled tradesman, former strongman coach, and is fast gathering a reputation as the island’s own superhero.
They soon realised that together, with complementary skillsets and an international perspective, they could lay the foundations of something truly special. Their idea was to create more than just a travel agency; instead, to curate a collection of special properties and experiences that would allow others to discover the true magic of this small island. At the same time, to fully support both local and foreign homeowners with a one-of-a-kind, all-encompassing experience.

Having lived on Hvar full-time since 2020, the first-hand knowledge and connections we’ve acquired allows us to provide a full concierge service to our guests. This means you no longer need to worry about coordinating the many guest services that you may be accustomed to doing. Additionally, by personally knowing your property and having visited it ourselves, you can trust that we have provided an accurate representation to guests, avoiding any mismatched expectations.
As a Hvar Away homeowner, you'll also gain priority access to our in-house repair and maintenance expertise, ensuring swift resolution of any issues that may arise. Moreover, should anything go wrong, such as damages, you can rely on us to manage the situation quickly and efficiently.

Absolutely. While many companies take a "come to us when you're ready" approach, we actually help get you there. We like to get involved as early as possible and support you from the very beginning.
Our hands-on, personalised approach means your property gets off to the best start, with our unique Property Setup Service followed by an ongoing comprehensive management package.
As you would expect, this all-encompassing full level of management requires exceptional levels of service and therefore availability is limited. If this is something that you like to consider, please contact us as early as possible prior to the season start. We are currently taking on full management clients for the 2025 season.
Hvar Away conducts a careful vetting process to do everything we can to ensure guests staying in your home will take good care of it. All homeowners set the damages deposit amount for their property. Upon booking, our guests agree with our rental terms that state that they are responsible for any damage they cause. The damages deposit is only released from the authorisation hold once the post-departure property inspection has been completed and we receive the green light.
In a rare and unfortunate event of damage, we are there to help resolve any issues of damage personally as it is our responsibility to protect your interests as homeowners and our clients.
If you are a full management client and we have agreed to list your property on platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com, those platforms offer "Host Guarantees" that protect hosts worldwide if damage occurs during a guest occupancy.
And of course, if any member of Hvar Away’s team accidentally breaks or damages something during cleaning or during fulfilment of any other service at your property, this will of course be fixed or replaced at no charge to you.
If you are part of our simple booking partnership program, then yes – of course! We developed that program to offer complete flexibility to property owners on Hvar who simply wish to secure an additional avenue of bookings through our website while continuing to work with other agencies and platforms.
If you are a client of one of our rental management packages, these are set up on an exclusive basis – meaning your property is available only through us and selected third party channels that we set up, sync, and manage. This approach in the villa rental world has numerous advantages, particularly for those at the beginning of their rental journey on Hvar. If you have experience of renting a property through multiple channels and agencies, you’ll likely know how chaotic and difficult to manage it can be: numerous emails and calls from agencies asking about availability and quoting different prices; provisional reservations that block availability for weeks before being cancelled; duplicate listings; different expectations, payout schedules, contracts, and ways of working… the list goes on.
If you are part of our booking partnership program and are listing your property across various platforms, we prefer and encourage you to provide the API key (synchronisation access) to your existing channel manager. We can then seamlessly sync with our website in real-time, via API, with your central calendar that keeps all of your bookings organised. We’d be happy to recommend and help you with the setup of a channel manager if you need assistance.
Alternatively, we can use iCalendar links to keep your calendar in sync. iCal is a standardised calendar format that is widely accepted and used by other platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, Homeaway, and VRBO. It’s simple and only requires pasting your iCal links from your other booking platforms into your account.
We offer personalised services designed to meet your specific needs, ranging from our simple bookings partnership program to comprehensive full rental management. While each service comes with its own fee structure, they all share a common approach: we operate on a commission basis, that we see as an investment in our shared success. Unfortunately we cannot provide cleaning as a standalone service. All of our on-the-ground management services are provided only as part of our exclusive, full management service packages.
Unfortunately we do not manage or promote apartments. We specialise only in villas – that is, holiday homes or vacation houses.
