VILLA HIGHLIGHTS
- On the beach
- Mesmerising sea views
- Truly secluded location
- Thoughtfully designed interiors
- Sustainable, renewable energy
- Traditional stone house
Only those who really want a slice of true, quiet paradise will make it here. That is because La Villa Bleue is a truly secluded location in a quiet bay in Hvar island’s remote centre, accessed down a bumpy and steep 4km/2.5-mile gravel road that is steep in places. The bay is home only to a handful of houses. The combination of the gravel road and the faraway location serves to ensure the three pristine beaches of this bay stay quiet and peaceful, even during summer’s peak.
La Villa Bleue’s architecture pays homage to its historic Dalmatian roots while the selective interior design keeps it modern with high quality furnishing and a few quirky vintage pieces. Accommodation at the villa is laid out over three levels. The main entrance door is accessed via the lower dining terrace facing the sea, meaning that you’ll already be awestruck by the location before you’ve stepped into the house. The front door leads immediately into a welcoming open-plan dining room, with a well-equipped kitchen behind, off of which the rest of the accommodation flows. The bright walls, sleek ceramic flooring, and blend of contemporary and vintage touches provide a blueprint for the rest of the house.
Down a few steps is the comfortable living area, with a large, well-cushioned corner sofa and armchair looking towards a smart TV with Netflix. For those who prefer a different kind of entertainment, the living room window provides a captivating view where the sea seems so close, you begin to question whether you are in a house or on a boat.
On the other side of the dining area, a hallway leads to the first double bedroom which, like all four bedrooms, is equipped with a queen size bed and its own air conditioning. Next to the bedroom, the ground floor bathroom with a walk-in shower.
A staircase leads up to the first floor, which is entirely given over to two bedrooms, which share a bathroom. The master bedroom has direct access to the upper terrace, home to three sun loungers, and the perfect place to catch the sun’s rays while gazing out at your incredible surroundings.
The third floor of La Villa Bleue is accessed via an external staircase that leads up from the upper terrace, which can also be accessed independently from the terrace at the rear of the house. This level comprises the fourth and final bedroom, which contains a queen bed and a single bed, and is equipped with an en-suite shower room.
Exploring behind the house, you will find your complimentary two SUP boards and kayak. Up the stone staircase, there is another patio served by a traditional barbecue and a pizza oven, where you can prepare meals with fresh, local ingredients.
If you prefer not to cook on vacation, there is a farm-to-table restaurant with breathtaking sunset views in the nearby village of Zastražišće, just a 5-minute drive from the top of the gravel road.

- A bumpy and steep 4km gravel road is required to access the villa, therefore an SUV/4x4 is advised. We can of course assist you with procuring such a rental vehicle.
- In the bay, you will find only a handful of houses – no cafes, no shops, no bars, and no restaurants. Please be aware this means you need to drive up the gravel road to reach the main road, and from there, varying distances to different amenities (5 minutes to the minimart, 30 minutes to the supermarket and gas station).
- This remote location is not connected to the grid, and therefore all power comes from the villa's solar panels and back-up generator. We reimagined what off-grid can look like, so guests are welcome to (mindfully) use all of the modern amenities (AC, washing machine, dishwasher) for a maximally comfortable stay. This is back to nature, but at its most comfortable.
- All of the bedrooms are equipped with AC units.
- The villa has a private parking with space for two to three cars.
- There is a water tank that holds the water, and there is a limit to the number of water deliveries we can have on the island per year. While there is no restrictions or limits for our guests and the house is equipped for a comfortable, well-facilitated stay, we ask that our guests are simply mindful of these resources and conscious of where the power and water comes from.
- The secluded location doesn’t mean a loss of connectivity – La Villa Bleue is equipped with Starlink internet.
- The support of our island-based team to help you choose your perfect villa
- Local support on hand to throughout your stay, with 24/7 availability.
- The expertise of our dedicated local concierge to assist you with trip logistics and to plan a range of Experiences and in-villa services.
- A detailed guidebook to your villa and the surrounding area, including our restaurant recommendations, must-sees, and our curated Experiences.
- Exclusive access to the villa, the grounds, and the amenities.
- Croatian VAT, tourist taxes, electricity, gas, wifi, linen, and towels.
- Baby cot and high chair (provided upon request at no extra cost).
- Final cleaning (fee specified if applicable). Additional housekeeping may be provided on request with surcharge.
Max occupancy is 9 adults
The Area
La Villa Bleue is situated in Medvidina Bay, at the end of a 4km winding gravel track, between the inland villages of Gdinj and Zastražišće.
Zastražišće is a small village situated in the rural eastern part of Hvar Island, and remains a hidden gem cherished by those seeking a retreat from the bustling tourist spots. The village, enveloped by rolling fields of lavender and ancient olive groves, epitomises rural Mediterranean charm. Despite its diminuitive size, Zastražišće is home to essential amenities including a minimart and a farm-to-table restaurant.Accessible by car from both Stari Grad and Sućuraj, Zastražišće promises a scenic drive through rugged landscapes, though the journey from Sućuraj includes narrow roads that demand careful navigation. Plans for a modern highway in the future may alter this rustic charm, making current road conditions a unique part of the experience. For maritime enthusiasts, arriving by boat offers an enchanting alternative. Pokrivenik Cove and Vela Stiniva provide serene anchorages and picturesque surroundings, framed by limestone cliffs and quaint seaside taverns.
Zastražišće is a haven for nature lovers and epicures alike. Its landscape, rich with olive groves, is home to Croatia’s oldest olive tree, dating back 2,500 years, reflecting the region’s deep-rooted agricultural traditions. Visitors can indulge in tastings at Seca, a modern olive oil tasting room, or explore botanical delights at Grgo Lučić’s lavender farm, renowned for its pure essential oils. Culinary experiences are equally enchanting, with local eateries like Kod Kućera offering panoramic views and authentic Dalmatian cuisine, and Fish Restaurant Veprionva in a neighbouring bay providing a one-of-a-kind experience. The village’s coastal splendor extends to its numerous pristine beaches, ranging from secluded coves accessible only by boat to scenic spots like Medvidina and Vela Stiniva. Each beach allows its visitors to unwind in nature’s untamed, untouched beauty – making Zastražišće a haven for sun-seekers and adventurers seeking respite.
