Accommodation at Villa Dvor Giovanni is set over three floors. Original features abound throughout the property, including exposed stone walls, wood-beamed ceilings, restored ceramic stone flooring, and the gorgeous living room fireplace.
To arrive at Villa Dvor Giovanni, you must first enter the Mediterranean-style stone courtyard that connects the villa with his three Dvor siblings: Villa Dvor Ardito, Villa Dvor Nicolo, and Villa Dvor Marietta. Upon entering the courtyard, even before reaching the villa, one is immediately struck by the feeling that this is a very special place indeed. Young locals have renovated these centuries-old stone houses and revived their former glory, but the storied history is almost palpable.
The entrance to Villa Dvor Giovanni is on the right side of the courtyard, up a small stone staircase, and opens immediately into a voluminous and sumptuously decorated living area. The large sofa can be transformed into a queen-sized 160cm sofa bed for groups of up to 10. Directly on your left is the staircase that leads to the first floor, which comprises the two upper bedrooms on occupying either side of the hall. The master bedroom is on the left side and has a king bed, a large ensuite shower room, and doors opening directly onto the rooftop terrace upon which you can relax on one of the four deckchairs and gaze out across Pitve's vineyards and olive groves. The second bedroom is on the right side of the hall, and contains a queen bed and is also ensuite.
Heading back downstairs to the living room, a third bedroom mirrors the master bedroom directly above it, containing a king size bed, a large ensuite shower room, and opening onto one of the two alfresco dining terraces on the same level as the pool. The pool! Sandwiched in between ancient stone, you won't forget summer dips in this little, uniquely-shaped haven.
From the pool terrace, a door to the fourth and final bedroom. This self-contained suite opens into its own mini entrance hall, features a full bathroom on the lower floor, and a staircase leads up to a king bedroom.
A final staircase leads down from the living room to the villa's basement floor, which comprises the stylish and well-equipped dark wood kitchen and indoor dining area. At the far end of this space, a door opens through to the second al fresco dining area, complete with a BBQ grill and stone steps leading back up to the pool. This lower ground floor terrace is also home to the villa's crowning jewels – the sauna and the wellness studio, complete with a well-equipped gym and a games room.

The Area
Villa Dvor Giovanni is situated in the heart of Pitve village, one of Hvar's oldest settlements and considered by many as the most picturesque.
Pitve, one of the oldest hamlets on Hvar Island, offers visitors a picturesque escape with its beautifully restored stone houses and lush, green surroundings. Located 168 metres above sea level, the village enjoys cooler mountain air even in the peak of summer. The hamlet is divided into Upper (Old) Pitve and Lower (New) Pitve, with narrow, labyrinthine streets and quaint inner courtyards that evoke a setting of a Mediterranean fairytale. With its tiny population of around 50 residents, Pitve's charm and tranquility make it a unique destination on the island. While Pitve has no amenities of its own aside from one restaurant, the village is just 2 kilometres from the town of Jelsa, accessible via a short and easy drive or taxi ride. Jelsa has two large new grocery stores and parking is blissfully cheap. Having a car is advisable for easy travel around the island, particularly if you're staying in Pitve.
Pitve is ideal for those seeking meaningful solitude and restorative quiet. Visitors can hike to the Church of St. James for panoramic views or take more challenging trails to the Chapel of St. Anthony and beyond to the seaside village of Zavala. The Viticulture Collection, a newly opened wine museum in Pitve, offers insights into Hvar’s winemaking history with exhibits of original vineyard tools and traditional cookware. Beach enthusiasts will find that Pitve’s location makes it easy to reach both the northern and southern coasts, offering a variety of idyllic coves and pebble beaches.Dining in Pitve is centered around the Konoba Dvor Duboković, a family-run restaurant located on a hilltop with sweeping views of vineyards and the Adriatic. This charming eatery, adorned with vibrant flowers and rustic decor, serves delicious homemade food in an enchanting setting. Reservations are recommended. For more dining options and a lively change of pace, the nearby town of Jelsa offers bars, art galleries, an open-air cinema, and numerous gelato bars, making it perfect for an evening out or a resupply.
