INSIDE

Accommodation at The Cricket House is laid out over two floors.

The main entrance to the house leads into a light and airy hallway, past the guest WC, and into the well-equipped kitchen with central island. This space flows into the dining area, complete with a homemade dining table crafted from pear tree wood, and the living room just behind. At the centre is a traditional wood fireplace, while to one side is the comfy sofa and smart TV. Sets of French doors bring in the light and allow access to the garden and the al fresco lounging terrace, and above, a custom-made chandelier of boat oars adds a touch of eclectic creativity.

The two ground floor bedrooms of the house are accessed from an entranceway flowing off the living area; two double rooms each with en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, wardrobes, and access to the verdant front gardens.

Back in the dining area, stairs lead up to the first floor. The first floor is home to two more bedrooms, both with king size beds and wonderfully spacious en-suite bathrooms. This upper floor also contains a separate seating area, complete with books and games for kids, and wonderful sea views. The perfect spot for morning coffee.

OUTSIDE

The Cricket House’s extensive grounds and gardens are certainly one of the property's many highlights. Life is meant to be lived outside here, surrounded by Mother Nature.

Running along the south-facing rear of the house is the al fresco lounging terrace offering both shady and sunny spots, and bean bags in which to while away the hours. A few metres from the house is the stone outbuilding containing the barbecue. At the other side of the terrace, meanwhile, is the gorgeous al fresco dining area, shaded by the magnificent oak tree it sits beneath. Throughout the garden, hammocks and deck chairs invite you for more sitting, relaxing, and gazing out at your paradisiacal surroundings.

A few steps lead towards the garden, which is planted with a variety of colourful plants, aromatic shrubs and Mediterranean fruit trees including olive and fig.

And then there’s the path to the sea. From the entrance to the house, the private path takes 5 minutes of walking to reach the translucent waters of the Adriatic. The jetty here is a real boon for those who wish to explore by boat and to nip into Hvar Town by sea.

This entire area is encircled with stunning coves to explore by foot. The two closest restaurants are in the nearby village of Vlaka, a 20-minute walk from the villa.

  • The Cricket House is a Pet-Friendly Property.
  • The Cricket House is situated on Saint Clement, one of the Pakleni Islands, a stunning archipelago just off the coast of Hvar. This means a boat transfer is required to reach the villa from Hvar. A private return speedboat transfer from Hvar Town port to the villa is included in your stay.
  • Upon your arrival at Hvar Town, your hosts will greet you, provide a speedboat transfer to the jetty, and your luggage will be transported to the villa by jeep up the private path.
  • When we say secluded and private, we truly mean it. While Saint Clement is not a private island, The Cricket House is tucked away on its remote western side, with no neighbouring properties, no shops, and only a couple of restaurants within walking distance (20 minutes).
  • Cars are not permitted on the Pakleni Islands. If you are arriving on Hvar with a vehicle, complimentary parking in Hvar Town can be arranged for the duration of your stay.
  • Due to its location, The Cricket House is not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
  • An air-conditioning system is scheduled to be installed in all bedrooms for the start of the 2025 season.
  • The king beds in the upstairs bedrooms can be converted into twin beds upon advance request.
  • The Cricket House is a self-sustaining, off-grid home, powered entirely by its own solar farm. Water is delivered and stored in a tank. Guests are kindly asked to be mindful of energy and water usage during their stay.
  • Please note that the villa does not have a washing machine. For weekly stays or longer, a mid-stay laundry service (with collection and delivery) is included.
  • While Croatia does not permit private beaches by law, The Cricket House offers an exceptionally secluded coastal experience. Its remote location means few boats venture this far, and there are no neighbouring properties. As a result, you’ll enjoy a level of tranquillity rarely found elsewhere in Croatia.
  • Despite its secluded setting, we strive to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible. We offer a pre-arrival grocery shopping service, as well as grocery and meal deliveries throughout your stay (all such services are subject to additional charge). We can also assist with arranging bareboat charters (for licensed guests) and skippered boat tours to explore the Pakleni Islands and beyond.

Guest reviews for The Cricket House

“The house was fabulous and our hosts were amazing. We had 2 adults and 4 kids (8, 11, 12, 14) in our family group. We wanted somewhere off grid to relax but with good facilities. The house was perfect and the bay at the bottom of the hill fantastic for a quick swim each morning. The island itself was good for little walks and longer hikes. We rented a boat for the stay which was a good choice, allowing us to fully explore the islands and access all the hidden coves and busier bays. We were treated to an amazing holiday!”

James L., UK, August 2024

“We highly recommend the place for those who seek peace, quiet, closeness of nature and some intimate time with family.”

Gyula H., Hungary, July 2024

“The cricket house is very unique and quite an adventure for my family and I to step out of our comfort zone. In the first couple of days we learnt to slow right down and surprised ourselves with how little we could do to fill a day. This part of Sveti Klement has such a raw beauty and the jetty 5 minutes walk from the house became our regular go-to to relax, swim and appreciate the beautiful scenery not to mention the afternoon breeze which was a welcome relief from the heat. There is a small beach on the opposite side which is sadly littered and in our experience with a teenager to appease not worth the more difficult walk. My family’s needs to explore were possibly greater than guests who find it easier to relax and do very little, and our host was so helpful in meeting them. The island has some beautiful coves as we discovered when we did the hour walk to the Parmizana resort. I wish it had been easier to visit them and if I returned I would ensure I have the appropriate licence to rent a boat. Hopefully the requirement to rent a small pasara boat without one will be lifted soon but with the winds that pick up in the afternoon a larger boat is needed especially with the crossing to Hvar town. We walked to Vlaka a couple of times (20 minute walk) and enjoyed the food at both Dionis (more local) and Fisherman’s House (more fancy). A further 10 minute walk in the direction of Dionis/Parmizana will get you to beautiful Tarsce Bay. The house itself is luxury within a wild setting, really well equipped, comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. You couldn’t ask for better hosts and the generosity with the extra touches/gifts and attention to supplies was most appreciated- be sure to check the bathroom drawers for anything you might need during your stay. The grocery shop was fantastic and kept us going for the 5 days we were there.”

Kayte O., UK, August 2022

“Discover a little paradise! Alone in the middle of nature and the sea at the end of the path that leads to the house! Pure moment of serenity away from the world and hustle and hustle and bustle Perfect for reconnecting to the essentials! Check-in by boat allows you to start the vacation in style! Thank you to our hosts for your thousand little touches!”

Olivier C., Belgium, July 2022

“Amazing place on the western part of Pakleni island, without cars and just a few houses on the whole island. No people, just pure nature. But not far from the crowds, just 15 minute boat ride from Hvar. Our hosts did everything to make our vacation unforgettable. Always available to answer questions or to arrange excursions for us. The house is great and exactly like on the pictures. There is no pool but that is no issue at all, because you have a private beach with great access to the sea. 20 min walk to the next restaurant via a small path across the island and a 45 minute walk to a bigger bay with a small supermarket and a few more restaurants. A great place for families, group of friends, yoga retreats - the sky is the limit.”

Viktoria E., Germany, September 2021

“If you’ve ever wanted to spend time on a private island with a private bay with crystal clear waters, this is it! That and you still have all of your creature comforts. New home, beautifully decorated, outdoor seating and hammocks to laze around in under the trees. Lovely walking paths lead from one end of the island to the other with stunning views and coves along the way. A great place to rest and recharge. It’s just a short fun boat ride away from Hvar and Vis is close by too. There are so many options but once you’re there it’s difficult to leave: Nothing beats spending time in a beautiful place hosted by equally beautiful, kind and generous people. The hosts are delightful. They are always there to help, and are a wealth of knowledge. They know everything there is to know about Hvar, the island and the surroundings. They went out of their way to look after us. We were welcomed with dried figs, homemade jam, oil, vinegar and homegrown mint and basil from their garden. We were spoiled rotten and we loved it! We left rested, inspired and with full hearts.”
