Accommodation at Villa Dvor Ardito is set over three floors. Original features abound throughout the property, including exposed stone walls, wood-beamed ceilings, restored ceramic stone flooring, and the gorgeous living room fireplace.

To arrive at Villa Dvor Ardito, you must first enter the Mediterranean-style stone courtyard that connects the villa with his three Dvor siblings: Villa Dvor Nicolo, Villa Dvor Marietta, and Villa Dvor Giovanni. Upon entering the courtyard, even before reaching the villa, one is immediately struck by the feeling that this is a very special place indeed. Young locals have renovated these centuries-old stone houses and revived their former glory, but the storied history is almost palpable.

The entrance to Villa Dvor Ardito is on the left side of the courtyard, and opens immediately into a voluminous, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. To one side is the staircase that leads to the first floor, which comprises a living room with two comfortable sofas and an HD home cinema, and two bedrooms. The first bedroom has a king bed with an ensuite shower room. The second bedroom is also ensuite, and contains two single trundle (pull out) beds, so is ideal for up to four children sharing together.

The staircase from the living room leads to the villa’s second floor containing the largest principal bedroom, complete with a super king bed, a full bathroom with a tub, and the balcony terrace upon which you can gaze out across the surrounding vineyards and olive groves.

Outside on the ground level, the dining terrace is an excellent area for al fresco dining, sheltered by a wooden awning, and offering a beautiful view across the verdant landscape. A staircase from here leads down to the pool area, surrounded by sun loungers and olive trees. Beyond the pool terrace, step out into the extensive vegetable garden full of organic Mediterranean plants and produce, and feel free to help yourself!

The Area

Villa Dvor Ardito is situated in the heart of Pitve village, one of Hvar's oldest settlements and considered by many as the most picturesque.

Pitve, one of the oldest hamlets on Hvar Island, offers visitors a picturesque escape with its beautifully restored stone houses and lush, green surroundings. Located 168 metres above sea level, the village enjoys cooler mountain air even in the peak of summer. The hamlet is divided into Upper (Old) Pitve and Lower (New) Pitve, with narrow, labyrinthine streets and quaint inner courtyards that evoke a setting of a Mediterranean fairytale. With its tiny population of around 50 residents, Pitve's charm and tranquility make it a unique destination on the island. While Pitve has no amenities of its own aside from one restaurant, the village is just 2 kilometres from the town of Jelsa, accessible via a short and easy drive or taxi ride. Jelsa has two large new grocery stores and parking is blissfully cheap. Having a car is advisable for easy travel around the island, particularly if you're staying in Pitve.

Pitve is ideal for those seeking meaningful solitude and restorative quiet. Visitors can hike to the Church of St. James for panoramic views or take more challenging trails to the Chapel of St. Anthony and beyond to the seaside village of Zavala. The Viticulture Collection, a newly opened wine museum in Pitve, offers insights into Hvar’s winemaking history with exhibits of original vineyard tools and traditional cookware. Beach enthusiasts will find that Pitve’s location makes it easy to reach both the northern and southern coasts, offering a variety of idyllic coves and pebble beaches.Dining in Pitve is centered around the Konoba Dvor Duboković, a family-run restaurant located on a hilltop with sweeping views of vineyards and the Adriatic. This charming eatery, adorned with vibrant flowers and rustic decor, serves delicious homemade food in an enchanting setting. Reservations are recommended. For more dining options and a lively change of pace, the nearby town of Jelsa offers bars, art galleries, an open-air cinema, and numerous gelato bars, making it perfect for an evening out or a resupply.

Guest reviews for Villa Dvor Ardito

“Elisha was a joy to work with! The booking process was made so easy and she helped arrange yoga mats and a massage table for our retreat, all was waiting for us upon arrival. The villa itself was a DREAM! The perfect place for a yoga retreat. Waking up to the birds, the magical courtyard, the quaint pool, and views from each bedroom were out of this world. We would DEFINITELY book again. Thank you!!!“

Elizabeth B, USA, May 2024

“The town of Pitve seems like a long-abandoned place, only the well-stocked parking spot and a sign to the tavern suggest life. But the place is full of life and is nicely located between historic stone houses. The villa corresponded completely to the pictures on the website. The house in general and the pool were very clean, the sheets and towels smelled wonderful, you can see the attention to detail down to the toilet paper rolls. The kitchen has everything your heart desires. We were supplied with fresh vegetables from their own garden several times. The hosts are very helpful and prudent and can be reached at any time, the cleaning lady comes on request. We were four, but the house can also accommodate up to 8 people easy. We felt very comfortable and perfectly looked after. If you are looking for a calm place near Jelsa this house leaves nothing to desire.”

Jasmin N, Austria, August 2023

“Beautiful and peaceful place! Perfect to wind down from stressful every day life. We stayed one week and enjoyed every minute in the house and the island. Can highly recommend it.”

Robert M, Germany, June 2023

“A tastefully decorated and beautiful old stone house with a personal touch which makes it easy to fill at home - a wonderful view of the old village which provides you with a restaurant within 4 minutes walking distance - a very friendly and uncomplicated hostess - definitely one of the best places to stay on Hvar.”
