Under the pool terrace, step out into the extensive vegetable garden full of organic Mediterranean plants and produce, and feel free to help yourself!
For more context on this otherworldly location, Villa Fulmin is situated in the abandoned ethnovillage of Malo Grablje and its location offers a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Surrounded by houses that have been abandoned since 1950, you are in your own secluded world, in total privacy in your retreat tucked in between the cliffs. What we love most about this location is that, despite the feeling of complete remoteness, you are only one kilometre – that’s not even a 5-minute drive – from the stunning beaches of nearby Milna town, and only a 10-minute drive from Hvar Town with all of its restaurants, cafes, and bars. And that’s not all! Villa Fulmin may be the only living house in the abandoned village, but there is also one living restaurant. Konoba Stori Komen is within walking distance of Villa Fulmin and serves a small menu of delicious traditional meals. This location is the true definition of the best of both worlds.

The Area
Villa Fulmin is the only living house in Malo Grablje, an abandoned ehtnovillage whose last residents departed by 1950 in search of a life away from argiculture.
Malo Grablje, located just a short distance from the bustling coastal activities of Hvar, presents a poignant contrast as an abandoned ethnovillage frozen in time. Since its abandonment in the 1960s, when its inhabitants relocated to Milna, Malo Grablje has remained eerily preserved, offering visitors a glimpse into a Mediterranean village steeped in history. The village is characterised by its crumbling stone houses, collapsing roofs, and overgrown pathways, where echoes of past lives resonate amidst the quiet solitude. Despite its abandonment, key structures like the church, school, public well, and an impeccably preserved olive mill from 1894 still stand, providing a tangible link to its vibrant past.Accessing Malo Grablje is relatively straightforward, with a newly constructed asphalt road connecting it to Hvar Town, just 6 kilometres away. Visitors can drive or take a scenic hike from nearby Milna, passing through picturesque cliffs and a tunnel. These recent improvements have made exploring Malo Grablje more accessible, enhancing its appeal as a historical and cultural destination.
Exploring Malo Grablje offers a journey through its rich history and legends. According to local lore, the village may have been founded by an illegitimate son of King Henry VIII, with the village’s strategic location provided natural protection from historical threats like pirates and invaders. Today, Malo Grablje stands as a testament to resilience, with each decaying structure and overgrown path telling a story of a community once thriving on agriculture and wine production.Beyond its historical interest, Malo Grablje also offers opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and culinary adventurers. A hike to Velo Grablje, its neighbouring village renowned for lavender production and breathtaking sunsets, rewards visitors with panoramic views of the Adriatic. For dining, Stori Komin, the village’s only operating restaurant run by Mr. Berti Tudor, serves traditional Dalmatian cuisine, including slow-cooked peka dishes, prepared with ingredients sourced locally.
