Accommodation at St. George Court is organised across one main house and two separate stone cottages. The house has the welcoming atmosphere of a well-loved, sensitively restored home. Classically styled, with Dalmatian touches here and there, it has an understated, unostentatious sense of luxury. A quirky Mediterranean palette, exposed wooden beams, and a mixture of modern and antique furniture provide a discreet backdrop for views that need to be seen to be believed.
The main entrance leads into a welcoming, comfortably furnished living area with a glass south-facing wall, meaning you can enjoy the incredible sea views even when inside. To the left of the living area and up a few stone steps is the open-concept dining area, with a well-equipped countrystyle kitchen, complete with a dishwasher, oven, and large fridge.
The two principal bedrooms are located on the first floor of the main house, each accessed via its own external stone staircase. The first is a double room with a king size four-poster bed, and an additional twin bed. The second contains three twin beds, two of which can be configured as a double. Both bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms.
The third and fourth bedrooms are each situated in separate one-level stone cottages within the complex. The third bedroom features two twin beds, a sofa bed large enough for two, and an en-suite bathroom with step-in shower. The final bedroom houses a queen bed, a bathroom with a bathtub and WC, and our favourite window view of the entire house.
Heading outside, St. George Court is immersed in extensive and luxuriant gardens, whose whispering olive trees, sweet fig trees, and aromatic herbs offer up a feast for the senses. The estate is planted with towering cypresses and other mature trees, ensuring privacy, seclusion and tranquillity, and there are numerous spots in which to while away days and evenings and plenty of scope for fun, games and entertainment.
The main outdoor courtyard is surrounded by dry stone walls and contains a summer kitchen with sink and plenty of workspace for preparing delicious ingredients. You will also no doubt enjoy the traditional open-fire barbecue hidden within the stone wall itself. The shaded al fresco dining table is large enough for 12 people. Directly in front of this dining area and still within the confines of the stone walls is the al fresco lounge, the perfect setting for evenings under the stars.
Steps lead down from the al fresco dining area to the gorgeous 11m-long infinity pool, which, like most of the grounds, offers captivating views out to sea. The pool area is served by a shaded pavilion with large lounging mattresses and several deck chairs.
The fabulous tennis court is a short stroll down one of the paths that interconnect the entire estate, and features high-quality artificial grass with quartz sand, providing a soft and comfortable surface for players of all levels.
This beautifully genuine Dalmatian property offers an ideal option for those looking for understated luxury with a difference – featuring charming, romantic interiors nestled within a labyrinth of stone walls, surrounded by serene fields and unforgettable views.

The Area
St. George Court is a stone complex within a private 30,000-metre square estate, 3km from Humac. This 17th century ethnovillage is in the Register of Cultural Monuments.
Humac, a preserved hamlet on Hvar Island, offers a glimpse into Croatia’s agricultural past amidst stunning natural beauty. Situated 350m above sea level, this village is renowned for its ancient stone cottages, each considered an ethnographic monument. Once bustling with agricultural activity, Humac now stands abandoned, its dry-wall stone houses dating back centuries. Founded in the 17th century, it flourished during the 19th century boom fueled by Hvar’s wine and aromatic oils. Despite its deserted state today, Humac remains a cultural treasure, listed in the Register of Cultural Monuments, attracting visitors seeking serene vistas and historical insights.Accessing Humac first involves a journey to Hvar Island and an 11km drive east from Jelsa. The route winds through picturesque landscapes, offering glimpses of rural life and scenic beauty. Once in Humac, visitors can explore its historic stone structures and wander through its ethnovillage, experiencing firsthand the architectural remnants of a bygone era shaped by agricultural prosperity.
Humac caters to both history enthusiasts and nature lovers. A highlight is the Grapčeva Cave, a Neolithic archaeological site where ancient ceramics and the oldest known depiction of a boat in Europe were discovered. Guided tours deepen the experience, offering insights into Humac’s cultural heritage, including visits to an ethnographic museum and an ancient herb distillery. For panoramic views, a hike to the telescope at the village's southern end provides a breathtaking vista of the island and beyond. The culinary experience in Humac is equally unique. Konoba Humac, the one working restaurant, operates without running water or electricity, creating an authentic Dalmatian dining ambiance illuminated only by candlelight and stars. Here, visitors can savour traditional Croatian cuisine amidst the tranquil surroundings, making it an unforgettable part of any visit to Humac.
