Accommodation at Villa Dvor Nicolo is set over three floors. Original features abound throughout the property, including exposed stone walls, wood-beamed ceilings, restored ceramic stone flooring, and the gorgeous living room fireplace.

To arrive at Villa Dvor Nicolo, you must first enter the Mediterranean-style stone courtyard that connects the villa with his three Dvor brothers: Villa Ardito, Villa Marietta, and Villa Giovanni. Upon entering the courtyard, even before reaching the villa, one is immediately struck by the feeling that this is a very special place indeed. Young locals have renovated these centuries-old stone houses and revived their former glory, but the storied history is almost palpable.

The main entrance to Villa Dvor Nicolo opens immediately into a spacious open-concept living area and well-equipped kitchen complete with a central island breakfast bar. The living room has a large comfortable sofa (which can be transformed into a double-sized 140cm sofa bed for groups of up to 6), an HD home cinema, and a stunning fireplace. On the back wall, a staircase leads up to the first floor bedroom, which contains two twin beds with an ensuite shower room. The staircase continues to lead up to the second floor, where the second bedroom contains a king bed and also an ensuite shower room.

Outside back on the ground level, the dining terrace is an excellent area for al fresco dining, sheltered by a wooden awning, and offering a beautiful view across the verdant landscape. A few steps from here lead down to the pool area, complete with 4 sun loungers and surrounded by olive trees. Beyond the pool terrace, step out into the extensive vegetable garden full of organic Mediterranean plants and produce, and feel free to help yourself!

The Area

Villa Dvor Nicolo is situated in the heart of Pitve village, one of Hvar's oldest settlements and considered by many as the most picturesque.

Pitve, one of the oldest hamlets on Hvar Island, offers visitors a picturesque escape with its beautifully restored stone houses and lush, green surroundings. Located 168 metres above sea level, the village enjoys cooler mountain air even in the peak of summer. The hamlet is divided into Upper (Old) Pitve and Lower (New) Pitve, with narrow, labyrinthine streets and quaint inner courtyards that evoke a setting of a Mediterranean fairytale. With its tiny population of around 50 residents, Pitve's charm and tranquility make it a unique destination on the island. While Pitve has no amenities of its own aside from one restaurant, the village is just 2 kilometres from the town of Jelsa, accessible via a short and easy drive or taxi ride. Jelsa has two large new grocery stores and parking is blissfully cheap. Having a car is advisable for easy travel around the island, particularly if you're staying in Pitve.

Pitve is ideal for those seeking meaningful solitude and restorative quiet. Visitors can hike to the Church of St. James for panoramic views or take more challenging trails to the Chapel of St. Anthony and beyond to the seaside village of Zavala. The Viticulture Collection, a newly opened wine museum in Pitve, offers insights into Hvar’s winemaking history with exhibits of original vineyard tools and traditional cookware. Beach enthusiasts will find that Pitve’s location makes it easy to reach both the northern and southern coasts, offering a variety of idyllic coves and pebble beaches.Dining in Pitve is centered around the Konoba Dvor Duboković, a family-run restaurant located on a hilltop with sweeping views of vineyards and the Adriatic. This charming eatery, adorned with vibrant flowers and rustic decor, serves delicious homemade food in an enchanting setting. Reservations are recommended. For more dining options and a lively change of pace, the nearby town of Jelsa offers bars, art galleries, an open-air cinema, and numerous gelato bars, making it perfect for an evening out or a resupply.

Guest reviews for Villa Dvor Nicolo

“The host was very welcoming, friendly and extremely responsive. She was always at our disposal. The villa was similar to the photos, all the equipment in the villa was new! Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer!”

Mathias R, France, September 2024

“We absolutely loved our stay at the house. It has been beautifully restored inside and out. The quality of the beds and bathrooms make you feel like you’re staying in a boutique hotel. The village is quite remote and very peaceful which is fine if you have a car. There is a lovely outdoor restaurant only two minutes walk away. Nearby Jelsa (5 mins in the car) was a great place to rent a boat or go out for drinks and watch the yachts in the harbour. It was all glorious and we would definitely love to come back.”

Anna W, UK, August 2024

“Great week spent in Pitve, in the most beautiful surroundings! Such great hosts, and the house is beautiful.”

Linn B, Sweden, July 2024

“This was our favourite stop of our trip. Took some time off and enjoyed what the place had to offer. A nice pool, peaceful surroundings and nice view to the surrounding mountains and church! The house is very beautiful, especially if you are fond of old architecture. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Only wish we would have taken a few extra days.”

Randel Y, Estonia, June 2024

“Elisha at Hvar Away was a joy to work with! The booking process was made so easy and she helped arrange yoga mats and a massage table for our retreat, all was waiting for us upon arrival. The villa itself was a DREAM! The perfect place for a yoga retreat. Waking up to the birds, the magical courtyard, the quaint pool, and views from each bedroom were out of this world. We would DEFINITELY book again. Thank you!!!“

Elizabeth B, USA, May 2024

“We loved our little villa in the hills! Exploring the island was simple by car, even downtown Hvar was only a 30 minute drive. Our highlight was a small beach we found just outside of Jelsa. There are so many hidden jems on the island. The village itself is incredible for a relaxing, peaceful stay. There is also a restaurant within walking distance with great mussels & local wine to go! Thank you for a beautiful stay.”

Laura S, USA, September 2023

“Amazing, stunning, magical! You truly will feel like you are staying in a fairy tale... I mean, in high-end accommodations in a fairy tale. It's so very peaceful away from the crowds in Hvar Town. The pool was perfect for those hot days. We spent most of the time on the patio enjoying morning coffee and evening beverages. Would not hesitate to book again!”

David S, USA, September 2023

“Our stay was incredible. Our hosts met us on arrival gave us a nice tour of the place. It was exactly like the pictures. They were very quick at responding with communication. We will be back. Perfect stay in perfect location.”

“Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. The house was so beautiful and clean. Our host was so helpful, very easy to get in touch with and always replied promptly to any questions. Thank you so much to your driver for getting us to and from the port. Overall a very enjoyable and peaceful stay!”

Sophie R, Ireland, August 2023

“Had an amazing time with my wife in Pitve. The view and the location were just great and amazing! The pool was super clean and the host prepared the house for visitors. You will have to get there by car otherwise it can get tricky.”

Taha B, Germany, June 2023

“The house was amazing and we had an excellent time! The interior design is beautiful, the view from the room and the pool is amazing and the kitchen had everything you might need. Our host was extremely helpful and very nice. We would definitely come back any time!”

Ann-Cathrin B, Germany, June 2023

“Beautiful, stylish and modern villa. Very helpful with questions we had about things to do on the island. Lovely peaceful village with views of the sea and mountains. Short drive to lovely beaches, supermarkets and small ports to eat and walk around in the evenings. Thank you and hopefully see you again in the future.”
